DATA BOXIn order to make the exact choice, please be sure to answer the following questions about your application:
*Some OE starters are equipped with a thermal cut out switch. This device is used to prevent the motor being over cranked by the operator due to extremely cold weather, or poorly maintained batteries. If the starter encounters these conditions, the points in the thermal switch open and the motor cannot be continued to be cranked. Once it cools enough it will again work properly. This is a fail-safe design and can be bypassed if necessary when installing the starter. Important note...some 42MT starters are made so that the starter drive rotates in a counter clockwise direction. This type of starter is typically seen on some marine and bus applications. If this is the case with your motor, please contact SAASE @ 888-598-8105, and we will supply the correct application for your use. SAASE also offers a heavy duty gear reduction option for the standard 42MT Delco style units. These designs, patterned after the new Denso type R5 starters, are listed in another section of our site. This gear reduction type unit is very robust, weighs only 25 pounds (42MTs weigh 63 pounds) and is easier to install. If you care to review our offering of these starters, please visit our R5 gear reduction section! |
