SAASE offers a wide selection of 37/41MT starters that fit school buses and mid sized trucks equipped with Cat 3116, 3126, Cummins 5.9L and International 444E and DT466 engines. In order to make the exact selection, please check the physical details of your starter against the notes on our selection chart. In addition, if you care to make absolutely sure, enter an OEM number to double check your choice.

In order to make the exact choice, please be sure to answer the following questions about your application:

  1. Does your starter have the same dimensions as shown?
  2. What is the voltage of your vehicle system? It has to be either 12 or 24.
  3. How many teeth are on the starter drive. The most popular will be either 10 or 12.
  4. Does your starter have a thermal cut out connection?*
  5. Refer to the DE housing photos and note the correct housing to match your application.

* Some OE starters are equipped with a thermal cut out switch. This device is used to prevent the motor being over cranked by the operator due to extremely cold weather, or poorly maintained batteries. If the starter encounters these conditions, the points in the thermal switch open and the motor cannot be continued to be cranked. Once it cools enough it will again work properly. This is a fail-safe design and can be bypassed if necessary when installing the starter.
